Following the 9/11, New York Twin Tower bombing tragedy, the Iranian regime was named by then President of United States as part of “axis of Evil”. The sponsorship of terrorism by the Iranian regime is well known to the entire world. It’s public support for such groups as Hezbollah in Lebanon, Hamas and Islamic Jihad in Palestine and its covert support for Al-Qaida and Taliban is no secret.

The world still has not forgotten the tragic hijacking of an airplane in 1985 in Lebanon resulting in death of American nationals.  The deadly suicide attack to US Marine barricades in Beirut in 1983 killing 241 US servicemen, deadly Khobar towers attack in Saudi Arabia killing 19 US soldiers, attacks to US and French embassies in Kuwait in 1983 and finally the assassination of Rafique Hariri, the prime minister of Lebanon in 2005, are only examples of Iranian regime’s continuous support for terrorism worldwide.

Stop Fundamentalism, 20 May 2011 – Evidence have surfaced by the families of victims of September 11 showing Iran has played a key role in the New York’s 9/11 attack on the World Trade Center.

The Families called on the U.S. Government to declassify intelligence about Iran’s involvement.

"Today, nearly a decade after the attacks that took so many of our loved ones away, we believe the 9/11 families and the American people deserve to know the full truth about Iran's complicity," said attorney Thomas E. Mellon who represents families of the victims.

Delisting Iranian Opposition MEK, Measuring Change in US Policy on Iran

A transatlantic rift in policy towards Iran seems to be closing rapidly as a momentum materializes in different policy making circles in Washington to close the gap due to recent developments in North Africa and Middle East.  The momentum emanates from a call to reposition the West in support of newly forming democracies across the region, rather than the old approach of engaging tyrants for economic reasons and turning a blind eye on actions of governments towards their own people. Simply, the West wants to be on the right side of history as developments continue.

A major shift, pivotal in realizing this policy change is considered to be the approach towards a leading resistance movement from Iran, the National Council of Resistance of Iran and the Mujahedeen-e-Khalq organization or MEK.
