Iran executes dissident

Mr. Zamni was a political prisoner whose case received international attention by many organizations including Amnesty International.  Many of the visitors of this website signed a petition last year calling for his immediate release.

During the past few weeks, Iran’s regime, under internal and international pressure for its nuclear ambitions, has escalated torture and pressure on political prisoners.

Iran: mass execution of political prisoners after the Security Council referral

February 13, 2006, Tehran (Stop Fundamentalism) - International observers warn of imminent danger of mass executions of political prisoners in Iran after the referral of this countries nuclear dossier to the U.N. Security Council.

According to internal reports, Iranian officials have warned the families of political prisoners that if Iran was sent to the Security Council by the IAEA, all prisoners will be executed.

“In 1967, after the Iran-Iraq war and the defeat of Ayatollahs in that war, thousands of political prisoners were executed,” the Farsi language program of Voice of America reported Tuesday February 9th.

Reports indicate that some prisoners including 31 year old Hojjat Zamani, have disappeared since last Monday.

Hojjat’s family has not been able to locate him yet and they say they are very worried about his life.

In 2003, Hojjat zamani escaped from the Evin prison, but was extradited to Iran by the Turkish police. His two brothers have been executed by the Iranian government before.

Iran invites Blair to anti-Holocaust conference

Tehran, Iran, Jan. 30 (Stop Fundamentalism) – Iran invited British Prime Minister Tony Blair on Sunday to an anti-Holocaust conference it plans to hold, the state-run ISNA news agency reported.


Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Hamid-Reza Asefi told reporters during his weekly press conference, “I think that it would be good if Mr. Blair takes part in the seminar on the Holocaust in Tehran. Of course, he can make the case in support of the Holocaust and at the same time hear the points of views that he cannot listen to there”.

January 25, 2006 (Stop Fundamentalism) – The human rights group called on Iran to end the execution of child offenders after death sentences were handed down to two teenage girls for crimes they allegedly committed when they minors.

Sunday, January 08 2006, (Stop Fundamentalism) - “I committed this crime trying to defend myself and my niece -- from being raped.” 18 year old Nazanin said weaping in an Iranian court, defending herself, “I had no intention of killing that man. At that moment I didn’t know what to do because nobody came to help us.”

The state-run daily Etemaad reported on Saturday that 18-year-old Nazanin confessed to stabbing one of three men who had attacked the pair along with their boyfriends while they were spending some time in a park west of the Iranian capital in March 2005.
